Andrew Gordon welcomes you and lays out the roadmap for the entire course, from Pixar's storytelling philosophy to hands-on exercises.
About This Lesson
Andrew Gordon introduces himself and walks through every module in the course: his path through Pixar and Illumination, the "Story is King" philosophy, character belief systems, "throwing rocks" at characters, not spoon-feeding audiences, character wants and goals, where ideas come from, plot vs. theme, six-word stories, the controlling idea, story structure, and the seven-step story spine.
The course covers both entertainment storytelling and how to tell stories in business contexts like board presentations. You'll practice these skills through exercises, including breaking a story live. This represents roughly 20 years of lessons learned at Pixar.
